The Power of the Dog Pemenang Best Picture di Critics Choice Awards 2022

AJANG penghargaan bidang perfilman Critics Choice Awards 2022 rampung digelar pada Minggu (13/3/2022) malam waktu setempat. Digelar di Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles, AS, para kritikus telah menjatuhkan pilihannya.

The Power of the Dog yang dibintangi Benedict Cumberbatch, dinobatkan sebagai yang terbaik. Film ini dinilai mengungguli Belfast, CODA, Don’t Look Up, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, Tick, Tick… Boom!, dan West Side Story.

Dalam penghargaan tersebut, sebenarnya Belfast dan West Side Story memimpin nominasi dengan masing-masing meraih 11 nominasi. Namun, Belfast akhirnya keluar sebagai pemenang tiga kategori, yaitu Best Acting Ensemble, Best Young Performer lewat aktor Jude Hill, dan Best Original Screenplay.

Sedangkan, West Side Story memenangkan dua piala, yaitu Best Editing dan Best Supporting Actress untuk Ariana DeBose.

Serial Korea Squid Game berhasil membawa pulang dua piala, salah satunya adalah Actor in a Drama Series berkat aktor Lee Jung-jae.

Aktor kelahiran 1972 ini berhasil mengalahkan nama-nama lain, yaitu Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Mike Colter (Evil), Brian Cox (Succession), Billy Porter (Pose), dan Jeremy Strong (Succession).

Selain itu, Squid Game juga berhasil meraih piala Best Foreign Language Series. Dalam kategori tersebut, Squid Game berhasil mengalahkan deretan serial lain, seperti Acapulco, Call My Agent!, Lupin, Money Heist, dan Narcos: Mexico.

Critics Choice Awards merupakan penghargaan penting bagi insan perfilman dan pertelevisian di AS. Pemenang dipilih Critics Choice Association, gabungan Broadcast Film Critics Association dan Broadcast Television Journalists Association pada 2019 dan terdiri dari 525 kritikus dan jurnalis hiburan.

Critics Choice Awards juga menjadi salah satu ajang penghargaan penting dan menjadi barometer film-film berkelas untuk bersaing di Oscar.
